I'm standing in the kitchen looking towards the front door in this image. Since we are still working on the house most everything is setup to be able to be moved. I'm not sure what I'll cover the ceiling with but I'll cross that bridge down the road.
The superadobe or earthbag walls are only about knee height near the door. I'm placing cob on top of the bags. Cob is such a great material that it can be used with strawbale, superadobe and many other building materials. It can be a bit of a struggle to live in a place while you are building on it. But like many things in life there are some trade offs that happen. I think the rate of progress has increased and before I'd travel down the hill, work, then stumble back up the hill. Now I can watch my teenagers watching TV as I carry cob past them building on the walls. Now the place has a real family affair feel to it. Having the phone too has helped influence my daughter to live down here. My son still sleeps at the top most of the time.
