Step inside.
When building a house as I am building, that is to say slowly with
time measured in years, not months, one has to juggle both the details
and the big picture, the overall goal.
The details are my week to week and day to day focus.
The big picture is my compass. Really the overall goal stays on the
horizon moving forward with each step I take yet remaining close enough
for me to plan each week's tasks.
When you walk in through the front door, you'll see a small vault which
will some day be a window seat. In the center of the back wall of this
vault is a small oval shaped colored glass window with a landscape
pictured on it.
Light plays such an important place with a dwelling. The photos at
the below on right
shows the inside of the small vault. You can see the combination
of superadobe and cob. The photo above and on the left shows the
front door near an oval window seeming to float in space with a
look not unlike that of earth from space.
Outside, my guard goose inspects the current construction techniques
and frequently
offers suggestions. Either that or the she just wants to get into the
bathroom to shower. The PeptoBismal pink color is created by mixing
red latex paint (small amount for pigment) with a lime wash. The final
colors are yet to be determined, but I can promise
it will be colorful and will eventually
include murals around the structure inside and out. The windows on the
right of the goose are those of the bathroom.
