. About the Auction

3 pm Saturday, May 15
New Crawford County Courthouse

This could be your best chance to own a piece of Crawford County history.  Pieces from the 1800s and early 1900s are gone from beneath your grandmother’s porch. They are now in a museum or a high-end antique store -- or here at this annual auction.
Funds raised by the auction will go toward restoration of the 1852 Crawford County Courthouse for a cultural center which will include the Middle Georgia Folk Pottery Museum. Any donations of pottery or sale proceeds will be greatly appreciated and tax deductible. The auction preview and buyer registration will begin at 11 am.

Buyers: A contribution of 10% of the sale price will be added to your total. Due to Internet restrictions inside the courthouse, we will not be able to accept credit cards. We will be happy to accept cash or your check with a driver’s license. All pieces must be picked up by the end of the day May 15.

Sellers: A contribution of 15% of the sale price will be deducted from the sale price. No fee will be charged if a piece does not sell, provided there is not a reserve price on the item. The auction committee will approve reserves requested as long as they are not unreasonable. A fee of 5% of the reserve price will be charged if the piece does not sell.

Send photos and descriptions of auction items by Friday, May 7, and bring the pieces themselves by Monday, May 11. If you cannot meet those deadlines, please call Robin Dunaway at 478.957.1209. Cut and paste the auction    form into an email to auction chair Robin Dunaway. Include at least one photo. Then, bring your pieces to the Crawford County Historical Society headquarters (located between Hwy. 80 and Hwy. 42S, on the east side of the old Courthouse; open by appointment; call Robin) or Southside Storage (Hwy. 341S, Roberta; call first 478.836.3029, Elaine Westberry).

The auction committee reserves the right to decline any pieces submitted too late or pieces for which the description is questioned, at any time during the submittal, exhibit, or auction process. The auction will again this year be conducted by Jim and Pattey Daniel of Daniel Auction Co.
