See how the old-timers burned. The year's first firing of the Knoxville Bottom Community Kiln will be Feb. 20. Feb. 22 will be your chance to acquire folk pottery made the way our ancestors did it -- in an old-time wood-fire kiln. The potters will unload the kiln Sunday and the kiln sale will begin with everyone claiming a buyer number, starting at 1 p.m. Sometime between 1 and 1:30 you can preview the pieces to be sold. At 1:30, we start calling buyer numbers, and when yours is called you get to claim the piece you want. If your number comes around again, you can buy again. A 10 percent buyer's premium goes toward restoration of the old Crawford County Courthouse and the Middle Georgia Folk Pottery Museum. |
